Copyright ownership
All photographs produced by Gavin Lau Photography are protected under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). Copyright in every image remains exclusively with Gavin Lau at all times. Purchasing a digital image does not transfer copyright or any ownership interest — it grants you a licence to use the image under the terms set out below.
What your purchase includes
When you purchase a digital image from Gavin Lau Photography, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for the following uses:
Sharing on your personal social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and similar platforms), with credit to Gavin Lau Photography where possible
Printing for personal display — framing, albums, and similar non-commercial purposes
Sharing the image with your personal sponsor or team for their internal reference
This licence applies to the individual purchaser only and may not be transferred, sublicensed, or sold to any other party.
What is not included
The following uses are not permitted under a standard personal licence:
Use in paid advertising, sponsored content, or any content where you or another party receives financial compensation
Publication by a sponsor, brand, or third party in their own advertising or promotional materials
Commercial use of any kind by a rider's team, sponsor, or affiliated organisation without a separate commercial licence
Removing, obscuring, or altering watermarks or photographer credit
Reselling or redistributing the image in any form
Commercial and sponsor licensing
Riders and teams who wish to use images commercially — including in brand advertising, sponsor content, social media campaigns, merchandise, press kits, or event promotion — can obtain a commercial licence for an additional fee.
Commercial licences are priced based on the intended use, platform reach, and campaign duration. To enquire, email gavinlauphotography@gmail.com with details of the intended use and I will respond with a quote promptly.
Credit and attribution
When sharing images publicly, please credit @[your Instagram handle] or Gavin Lau Photography. Credit is not always a legal requirement under your licence, but it directly supports a small independent business and is very much appreciated.
Exclusive hire bookings
If you have engaged Gavin Lau Photography under an exclusive hire arrangement, your licence terms will be set out in your written agreement. Those terms take precedence over this general licence page for your specific booking.
